This is the second novel by Yalom that I have read, and it is excellent. Nietzsche is my favorite philosopher and if someone were to ask me how to begin understanding Nietzsche, I would recommend this novel.
The author touches on some of the basics of Nietzsche’s work (although it takes place before Zarathustra) and covers many of illnesses which helped him to develop his will to power for his work. There is also an excellent movie by the same title available through Amazon instant video and it is very close to the book. If you are going to read a novel, you mind as well learn something. Give it a try
